Since ancient times the therapeutic use of water, fragrance and minerals has resulted in a most natural way of allowing
the body and the mind to slow down. Of course, we are more fortunate than the ancients who had to share public
baths. Tonight, instead of grabbing a quick shower and trying to relax in from of the television, try allowing
yourself this small luxury. Make your preparations. Have the kids in bed or make sure they are occupied.
If you can, lock the door and create you own little world. Light a few candles or burn some incense. Make
sure that the fragrances blend. A strawberry and a musk may work well together but an orange apple and strawberry
will make you feel like you are in a fruit store. For your bath water you can use a commercially prepared
sachet or make your own from natural ingredients and oils and salts. If there is a safe way for you to enjoy
music, select a CD with relaxing sounds. Enya, certain classical sounds, music to meditate will all assist in
relaxing your mind and body. While in the bath meditation will come easily if you are able to concentrate
on yourself. You should be careful not to fall asleep in the tub. Of course that will not be an issue if there are
distractions from outside the room. If you are unable to take full benefit of a therapeutic bath settling for natural
benefits of the water and the fragrance will still deliver a more relaxed woman. Some tips on making your
own sachets Flowers and should not be put into the tub uncontained. All the benefits of relaxation are lost
if you have to begin cleaning all those small petals out of the tub. Also, should they go down the drain, you
may find yourself calling a plumber after a few baths. Two simple containers work very well. A metal tea strainer
which opens for filling of loose tea and locks works well in the bath. After all the tub is no more than a very
large tea pot. Cheese cloth also makes an excellent diffuser for the essence while containing the leaves.
I recomend steeping these herbs just before the bath about 5-10 minutes though to bring out full powers, then add
this water to the bath, careful not to get burned, you only need to steep 2-4 cups to be added to your bath The
recipes call for parts ,,, that would mean if you use a 1/4 cup measure to determine a part than 1/4 cup = 1 part.

They can be kept in air tight jars until needed. If you enjoy the fragrance you might want to reserve a bit of
the mixture as a room sachet Take the middle jar ring out of a mason-type jar and instead place a circle
of lace over the jar lid. Replace the screw on top. The fragrance will escape through lace. These also make a nice gift
when decorated with a ribbon. For long term storage just replace the center ring until ready for use.
If you do not have a bathtub or only take showers you can still enjoy the sachet. Add some sachet to a dry washcloth
and tie it off forming a sachet ball. Dampen it in hot water and dab it over your wet body just before drying
off. The bath is one of the luxuries available to us at home and at little or no expense ... except perhaps
a little time. Make the magic work for you. A few notes of common sense and caution: 1-
Be sure you are not allergic to any natural substance before using it for a full body bath. 2- Take caution not
to fall asleep in the tub. 3- If you are using an open flame -- such as a candle or incense -- use caution and
prudence keeping it away items that can catch fire -- an open flame should never be left unattended. 4- If you
are using an electrical appliance -- such as a radio or CD player keep it away from water unless it is specifically
rated for use in that area.
